Event Description: You've been posting articles on Facebook, volunteering at organizations, making art and raising your voice. This event is a moment to meet other likeminded NYC peers to discuss local community education and action. The future purpose is to create a local network of people who are looking to get actively involved or seeking to educate about their initiatives.
Founding Idea: We've all been tackling social justice issues from different directions, angles & so on. What I noticed was a large dissemination of NYC resources, tools, and people and no ‘one place’ we can access all this information. To propel forward, I suggest daily meetings where we can see and meet our peers to discuss/organize local change.
It is a way we can become accessible to one another. All are invited, come alone or bring friends!
Principles (In Short):
1. A collective of people from various backgrounds and involved in different social justice areas to meet, educate, & learn
2. Unify NYC resources/communities and inform others about tools we were unaware that are at our disposal
3. Discuss ways in how any one us can actively shape our local community
Introduction & Discussion at Mayday Space 6-8PM
Happy Hour Drinks after at Starr Bar, Mayday’s social justice-based partner a few blocks away. You can learn more about their mission here. (drinks $5+)
